Home Sweet Home

Our backyard looks like a jungle!
I'm hearing we got A LOT of
rain while we were at Red River.

We picked a TON of  tomatoes
and peppers from the garden.
My plants were so out of
control that I had to cut them back
and even pull a couple completely
out to make room for the others.

My flowers have come in so
good.  So glad I planted from seed
instead of buying them.

We also came back to a pool
full of a swampy green mess!

It's going to take lots of
TLC to bring this baby back
to swimmable!

AND...
I got a few love selfies
this week!

Red River ~ Part Three

So...
the last part of our trip is going
to round out this whole post!

In basically one night.

One terrifying horrific I almost
died multiple times post!

It was our last Friday night...

KC was trying to hurry and get dinner
done and off the grill because I really
wanted to go for an evening ride.
It was chilly and cloudy and I just wanted
to get out of the camper for a while.
No Boys! We start heading up our
favorite trail and realize if we hurry
we can watch the sunset from up top
of Greenie Peek. And I mean we hurried!
We turn one corner and come to face
2 GIGANTIC elk right on our trail.
They take one look at us and haul butt
up in the trees before I could get my camera.
They got us talking about how if those
two huge things are just hanging out
here think of what else is out there hiding.

And on we went racing to the top.
The sunset was gorgeous!
We watched it for a bit and then decided
to head back down before it got too dark.

We get MAYBE 50 feet down from the
top of the mountain and we hear a belt
brake on the razor. Happened before and
KC has a spare and knows how to fix it.
I start to panic a bit because I know it could
take an hour to change this belt
on this mountain trail! in the middle of the forest!
with the sunset sinking fast!
And I'm thinking of our earlier conversation
about all the hiding creatures!
It gave KC a bit of a struggle and
I was no help because I WAS NOT
letting go of the gun. It was dark by the
time he really got it going his way.
And out there dark is DARK! Pitch black!
Can't see your hand in front of your face!

Even when we were back in the razor
heading down the trail I knew I was
not going to be happy until I was back
in my Tahoe heading to our camper.
I prayed constantly from the time
I heard that belt pop and all along the trail.
I knew if we got to a certain point on
the trail we could coast the rest of the
way if all else fails. We have done it
plenty just for fun before. We got to
the coasting point and I started feeling
a little better. Still just wanting to
get home. We made it to almost the end
of the trail that meets up with the
road when we hear a really bad rattle
from the back left tire. KC says a
few choice words and I know it's
not good. He gets out and looks at it
and we broke 3 of the 4 lug nuts on
the wheel. YOU CANT COAST DOWN
A MOUNTAIN IF YOUR MISSING
YOUR WHEEL! My panic sets in yet
again because even though we've
made it to the road, we are still
about 3 miles from the Tahoe and
civilization! So I try to calmly ask
KC what now ~ knowing full well he's
going to say... we have to walk the rest
of the way. Still on the mountain and
 still in the pitch black!
So I take off!
I will run down the whole rest of
the way if it gets me there fast.
Then I see headlights and I
am waving my flashlight like crazy so they
will stop. They do and Thank God agree
to give us a ride to the Tahoe.
Well about half way there KC realizes he
left the Tahoe keys in the razor!
Probably because as soon as he said we
had to walk I took off and wasn't about
to wait around in the darkness for
little things like keys! The pickup guys
friend was following behind us in
his razor. Instead of the truck turning
around we decided it would be easier
just to get in the razor and go back.
So we did. We got about half way there
and I made the stupid idiot pull over!
I would much rather stand on the side
of the pitch black road all alone with
no gun in the middle of the forest
and risk getting eaten by bears and
cougars then ride with him!
I LOVE sketchy riding but he was just
down right insane! It seemed like forever
since KC came back to get me in the
Tahoe. We headed back to our razor and
winched it up on the trailer.

I have NEVER been so happy to be
heading back to the camper after riding!

Red River ~ Part Two

Week #2
in this fabulous beautiful
little mountain town!

Someone started getting a
sore throat and feeling
kinda down.  Meds and rest
and he was back to normal
in a couple of days.

Did you know there are wild
huge cows roaming the
mountains?  Yeah, me either.
But there they were just roaming
around.  No fence just hanging out.

We drove to Angel Fire one
afternoon to check out some
of their trails.  They were...
different.

Most of them were grassed over.
Maybe they don't get a lot of
traffic there???
I don't know.

We took a little break and my
snookem decided to climb some
super tall pine trees!
Can you find his red hat?

And Kade ate worms.
I guess he was really hungry!

We got caught up in one super sketchy
part!  I had to get out and watch KC
try to get out of this crevasse.
It was just too much for me.
At one point the rzr was laying
on it's side!  Nope, definitely not for me.

S'mores!
You can't camp in the mountains
for two and a half weeks without
having these multiple times.

KC took Kade and Cody to ride
down the ski mountain on their
bikes.  Codys breaks went out about
half way down and he took a pretty
good tumble.  He was very proud
of his battle wounds.

Oh Monsty!
This little pup doesn't like being
left out!

Cody wanted to learn to grill.
He can cook a mean hobo dinner.

Reading by the campfire!
Everyday!
My heart was screaming for joy!

Red River Summer ~ Part One

Heading out for the next two weeks in
our most favorite place ~ Red River!

But first...
Fireworks!

We Have Arrived!
We had to celebrate with a selfie.

Someone else had to celebrate by
rolling around in the mud.
He's crazy!

Exploring.
Always exploring.

and riding!
lots of riding

KC rode his 4 wheeler

and we took over the razor

4th of July in the mountains!
This year we signed up to be in the
town parade.  Decorated the razor with
the Red Hot and Blue theme and headed
to get in line.

Can you find Rylee?

These weirdos wanted to ride their
bikes during the parade.

because they could do tricks
of course

more exploring
of course

this girl doesn't look it
but she is very adventurous

We ended our day with our favorite
4th of July dinner tradition!

Got up early the next day and to hit the
trails before they got full of people.
I some how lost my phone and by
some dumb luck someone we passed
randomly asked if we lost one!
Thank Goodness!!
She did warn me that she might have
taken a selfie with it.  lol

and sure enough ~ she did!

Marley conquered the trail to Goose Lake!
I think he is going to be a great
razor dog!  We were so proud of him.

Cody always finds inch worms when
we are riding.  He calls them good luck.

KC made a mountain swing for the
boys to swing on.  On the side of a
little cliff!  He said it was for the boys
but I think it was more for him.

Kade did pretty good on it...
until his second to last swing.
His foot got stuck and he fell out
and tumbled about half way down
the mountain.
He wasn't hurt
and he was screaming and laughing
like a little girl the whole way down.
It was hilarious!

Cody was a little scared to do it.
He at least tried it though.
and that was good enough for him

Sunday night Cody asked if we
could go on an alone fishing date.
I was more than happy to go.

I love staying at this little RV park.

They have a duck that we feed in the
mornings.  We named him Timmy.

Old Maid gets pretty crazy
around here.

more exploring

and of course they wait until KC is
gone to find snakes.
Snakes that they want to keep
for pets.

traded in the exploring for
some bow shooting

It has been rainy and cloudy
and chilly the past 2 days.
I have absolutely loved every
second of it!
