Cherne Summer Vacation ~ Day 2

Today was a hot one for
a mountain day!

The boys are obsessed with
fishing!  Like that's all they
want to do.  If we have down
time, they are fishing in the river.

We decided to load up and head
to Lake Cabresto so they could
fish the lake.

There was lots of puppy swimming.

Cops wanted to jump in and
save Monsty.

Copper chased lots of sticks
out in that lake.

And I practically sat next to
this little guy!  Gross!
Needless to say, I got up quick!

After that we were outta there!
I drove the rzr to the next trail
with Ry and Cody.  It was such
a pretty drive.  Nothing but trees
and fresh mountain air.
Gorgeous!

Rylee did all the hard work
I think!

Greenie Peak is breath taking.
Mountains all around.
You feel like you're on top
of the world.

The boys had a rock
stacking contest.
It took lots of concentration.

Cody was the winner
with 17 rocks high!

After a full day of riding we
were starving!
Mountain Treasures for dinner.
They have the BEST grilled
sandwiches.  It's our
favorite spot.

Someone was a good boy
and waited in the truck for us!

Cherne Summer Vacation! Day 1

There is no one more ready
For vacation than me!
We loaded up and headed
to Red River to spend 9
glorious days!!!

First things first...
We couldn't head out without
getting our fireworks!

I think Copper thinks he's
a lap dog.

You can't make a quick stop
without someone asking for
a snack.  They know dad will
say no ~ so they just ask me.

My co-pilot was not impressed
with my music choices.
That and he said he thought
I had too much Red Bull.

When we got there,
Cops just wanted to
soak it all in.  This was
his first time at Red River.

The hummingbirds come out
in the evening.  They might be
my summer time favorite!

Our first full day
everyone was ready to
get out and explore.
Cody insisted on breakfast
by the river first.

KC road his 4 wheeler on
some trails today.
They were sooo beautiful!
Lots a greenery and wild flowers.

I drove the boys in the rzr.
Someone doesn't like to go
fast through puddles.
I won't name names, but he
starts with K and ends with C.
I like to go fast through puddles!

We also did some fishing today.
Or actually the boys did.
I just watched.

Kade is usually the only one
that never catches anything
when we go fishing.
I think his luck is changing.
He got the first and only
catch today!

It was a great day today
and it's only our first day!

Last Minute Stuff

We picked a few more
peppers today.

Some were really good
size.  Rylee wanted to try
to make salsa out of them.

Our tomatoes aren't
ready yet, so we used store
bought.  A friend of mine
said secret is grilling your veggies
before you make it.  I think she
was right.  It was yummy!

We had to make a last
minute Dr appointment before
we head out of town tomorrow.
Rylee started getting a bad rash
and some bug bites from his camp
started to look infected.
Better safe then sorry.
He got some meds and cream
and is now good to go.

a rainy day

Today I woke up to
really loud thunderstorms
and heavy rain!
My favorite kind of days!

The rain makes everyone
want to snuggle and sleep in.
I had to break their little
puppy hearts because
Marley had an early
beauty appointment.

I took Rylee along with me
to run a couple of errands.

First stop was the grocery store.
This little nerd says he just loves
to walk around the produce
section in Market Street.
And a coffee makes him feel
so grown up!  Even though
it's really just Hot Chocolate.

Lots of action going on in
the garden!  It is loving all
of this rain we have been getting.

I'm just going to pretend
it is doing so well because
I'm such a good gardener!

Rylee loves spotting all the
new things growing.
And there are a lot!

The cucumbers are out of
control.  I have been reading
about them online and I
think it's time to trellis them.

The boys decided it was
a good idea to shoot some
bows in the rain.

While they were shooting,
I was baking!

I made breakfast sandwiches
for our Red River trip we have
coming up.  Premade breakfasts
make it easier to get out on the
trails earlier.

I also made my
Great Grandmothers
banana bread.  It definitely does
not have all the "good for you"
substitutes, but it's sooo good!

Weekend Randomness

Cody made himself his own
smoothie this morning for
breakfast.  He was
ecstatic when he saw we had
leftover worms left.

All 3 boys are saving
up for 3 of these little guys.

He is a Fancy Bearded Dragon.
And he won their little hearts
over instantly.  He really was sweet.

They have taken up all kinds
of jobs around the house.

Cody learned to mow the yard
today to earn his money.

It wasn't perfect, but he did
a great job.  I think he realized
it's a lot harder than it looks!

The boys needed a good swim
to cool off after all their hard work.

I sat back and tried to learn a few
things about canning.  I really want
to can as much of our tomatoes
as I can. I don't want any going
to waste.

Sun Tea!
A summer time Cherne favorite!

We picked our first pepper
from our garden last night!

It went perfect in the
guacamole I made to go
with our fajitas.
