Cherne Summer Vacation ~ Day 3

I am sure it's no surprise
that the boys started their
day fishing.

I love that they love it here
just as much as we do!

We got to spend our afternoon
on my most favorite trail today.

~ Goose Lake ~

This trail is So So So
BEAUTIFUL!!!

and the scenery is
even better!

So many pretty wild
flowers and small tiny
creeks and waterfalls.

Every other time we have
brought the boys to
Red River it has been too
snowy to take this trail.
This was their first time
seeing it and they understood
why it's our favorite.
We didn't even make it
half way up and they
were already making
plans to do this trail again.

There are several old torn
down cabins on this trail.
They are all marked with signs
saying they belonged to the early
pioneers of Red River.

And this is
Goose Lake.
Hidden way up top in
the mountains.

Rylee couldn't wait to
do some hiking.
Can you see them below?
I promise, all 4 boys
are on that mountain somewhere
about half way up.

We have told the boys
that we want our
ashes spread up here.
The boys decided today
that they do too.

They have made me so
proud on this trip.
They are all growing up so
fast and becoming little
young men.  I see it more here
as they are venturing out
on their own and trying
new things.

Believe it or not,
this under the rocks
is snow!

About 6 feet of
deep snow.

I had a little chipmunk friend
visit me while the boys
were hiking.
He just liked me for
my peanut butter.

These boys were crazy enough
to swim in this freezing cold lake.
I didn't feel it, but it had
to be cold if there were
still patches of snow every where.

We headed down just as
the rain storm started
coming in.
I love the smell of
mountain rain.

My Snook braved the rain
and hail and made us
the most yummy fajitas
on the grill.  There were
no leftovers.

The boys declared a family
game night tonight.

I declared coffee must go
with our rainy game night.
